Background & Experience
Ashley has extensive experience working with mild to complex conditions including, but not limited to, Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, IBS, SIBO, Bowel Resections and Diversions, Ileostomies and Colostomies, GERD, Functional Constipation and Functional Bloating.
She also has worked closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient’s metabolic outcomes including metabolic weight loss surgery, behavior modifications in conjunction with anti-obesity medications and as a facilitator for group Adult Weight Management classes.
Ashley obtained her Masters in Public Health with a focus in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She has gained 5+ years of clinical experience working as a surgical dietitian at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. In this role she provided medical nutrition therapy for patients with head, neck, stomach, and intestinal cancers as well as acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions. She took on an individualized condition-specific approach so patients could feel their best eating and digesting food as well as reducing their risk for nutrient deficiencies and complications. Ashley became specialized in nutrition support (Oral Nutrition, IV Nutrition, and Enteral Nutrition) and obtained her Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) credential established by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN). She is looked to as a resource among the interdisciplinary teams and has provided numerous presentations and webinars on Medical Nutrition Therapy for Complex Gastrointestinal Disorders for doctors, nurses, dietitians, interns.
In addition to her work at Lenox Hill Hospital, Ashley has also worked for a private practice nutrition group that provides high quality counseling with a focus on balanced, and self-led eating styles. Ashley is on the Medical Review Board for VeryWell Health and has been quoted in the press on Livestrong, USA Today, WebMD, and Healthy Day.
